Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is widely regarded as a top-five player in the NBA at the very least. When it comes to who he believes takes the top spot, he’s picking Boston Celtics guard and 2024 Finals MVP Jaylen Brown.
“I feel like the best player is the guy that wins the championship, wins it all, and is the best player on the team,” Antetokounmpo said in an interview with Complex Sports. “So, the best player in the NBA, I would probably say Jaylen Brown, because you cannot say you’re the best player if you’re on the team who didn’t win.”

While Brown had a tremendous finals run and is a great player, he’s certainly an unusual pick as the best player in the world. Some fans liked that the Greek Freak was giving credit to another star on an Eastern Conference team, but felt that fellow Celtic Jayson Tatum was more deserving of the pick.
Regardless, in an era of such competitiveness and emphasis on individual accolades, Antetokounmpo’s take is a refreshing one.
