Dodgers star Mookie Betts continues to slump

Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman and franchise icon Mookie Betts continues to struggle at the plate.

Betts’ average fell to .189 after a night which saw him go 0-5 with a strikeout against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday night.

For Betts, this trend has been, unfortunately, unsurprising. The seven-time Silver Slugger has not finished a season with an average above .270 since 2024, a feat he has achieved eight times in his 13-year-career.

Betts statistically had the worst season of his career in 2025, producing a slash line of .258/.326/.406, and while these numbers aren’t terrible, for a hitter of Mookie’s caliber it’s a far cry from his traditional production.

Unfortunately for Betts, it seems this season at the plate may be following a similar trajectory. His current slash line as of Wednesday June 3 sits at .189/.254/.378.

The silver lining in all of this is that it’s still relatively early in the MLB season, however, with All-Star voting opening on Wednesday. The mid-way point in the year is fast approaching.

If anyone can bounce back from a major slump, it’s Mookie Betts, and it feels almost like a matter of time until Betts finds his groove once again.
