Legendary Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman and longtime coach Davey Lopes has died at the age of 80, the team announced on Wednesday.

Lopes was a four-time All-Star from 1978-1981 and was a member of the 1981 Dodgers team that won the World Series.

He spent 11 years with the Dodgers, setting the franchise’s all-time record for home runs by a second baseman. He went on to play for the Athletics, Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros. He retired from playing after the 1986-87 season and quickly pivoted to coaching.

Lopes ultimately spent 45 years in the MLB as either a coach or player. He won another World Series as a coach for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008. He coached for over half a dozen teams before retiring in 2017.
