Rodman famously sparked a friendship with North Korea’s supreme leader, Kim Jong Un, in 2013. He recently gave details to streamer Neon on his livestream that Kim Jong Un wants to visit the United States.

“Oh my god, I’m always asked about that. What the hell, man? The guy’s cool to me, right? But you know what? I’ve always said to everybody in the world, I said, ‘Guess what, if that guy came over here to America, he really wants to come over here, man,'” Rodman explained.

“I went to his palace, went to his island,  went to his ski resort. I went every place over in North Korea. Hey man, the guy’s cool to me.”

It’s unclear if Kim Jong Un will visit America. Still, Rodman’s comments reignite curiosity about the unlikely friendship between a flamboyant NBA legend and one of the world’s most secretive leaders.

Whether it’s genuine diplomacy or eccentric spectacle, Rodman’s relationship with Kim Jong Un continues to blur the lines between sports, politics, and pop culture.
