Dan Hurley

Social media angrily reacts to Dan Hurley’s late-game interaction with a ref against Duke

The UConn Huskies were on the winning side of a March Madness miracle on Sunday. But after Braylon Mullins sank the 35-foot game-winning three with less than a second to play, head coach Dan Hurley appeared to confront a referee.

Videos quickly went viral showing Hurley appearing to make contact with the official went viral, and some social media users were upset that he wasn’t given a technical foul.

By the time Hurley had this interaction with the referee, the game hadn’t officially ended. This means Hurley could easily have been assessed a technical foul, which would have given Duke the opportunity to win the game at the free throw line.

Depite seeming to make head-to-head contact with him, the official ultimately held off. No official announcement has been made regarding the interaction, but a fine may still be on the table.

Now, Hurley will look to the Huskies’ Final Four matchup against the Illinois Fighting Illini on Saturday, fresh off of yet another iconic March Madness moment.
