The Chicago Cubs took down the Pittsburgh Pirates 10-4 on Wednesday, snapping a 10-game losing streak in emphatic fashion.

In the top of the opening inning, Ian Happ got on the board first for the Cubs with a two-run RBI single. Pittsburgh made some contact in the bottom of the inning, but couldn’t score.
In the second inning, Nico Hoerner extended the lead with a one-run RBI single, but the best was yet to come for Chicago.
It didn’t take long for the Pirates to tie it up thanks to a three-run home run by Brandon Lowe in the bottom of the third. The Cubs once again responded with a one-run RBI double from Pete Crow-Armstrong.
As both teams were heating up at the plate, Konnor Griffin tied it back up for Pittsburgh with a solo home run in the fourth inning. This was the last score from either side for a few innings, but the Cubs came alive in the seventh.
Happ cracked his own three-run home run to take a 7-4 advantage before Michael Conforto extended the lead even further with a two-run homer of his own.
To top off the inning, Michael Busch hit a one-run RBI single to make it a 10-4 game in favor of Chicago.
The scoring finally cooled off near the end, with neither side sending in a run in the eighth inning.
After the Cubs came up empty in the top of the ninth, they were able to hold the Pirates scoreless as well and escape with the victory.
