Cooper Flagg set a career-high in points while making NBA history on Thursday night. He dropped 49 points on 20‑29 shooting. This was the most points scored by a 19‑year‑old in NBA history.
The problem, however, was the fact that the Mavericks lost 123-121 to the Charlotte Hornets. Flagg went up against his former Duke roommate Kon Knueppel, and the matchup likely sparked him to raise his level of play.
It would be Knueppel who iced the game at the free‑throw line, knocking down the winning shots to give Charlotte its fifth win in a row and 10th of the month.
Despite the loss, Flagg put on a show, proving he has a very bright future in the NBA.
