United States forward Christian Pulisic will now be sidelined for several weeks after being diagnosed with a bone bruise and a microfracture in his lower leg, the USMNT announced on Thursday.

Pulisic sustained the injury during the USMNT’s Round of 16 loss to Belgium on Monday. He attempted to take a shot in the 52nd minute of the match, but accidentally kicked the back of Youri Tielemans’ leg.
He was subbed off seven minutes later after trying to play through the injury.
Both U.S. Soccer and AC Milan will be working with Pulisic on his recovery.
“I just totally twisted my ankle and my knee in one play,” he said after the match. “I mean, whatever. I have time to rest. It’s just an unfortunate way to finish.”
With his absence expected to last several weeks, Pulisic should be back to training with AC Milan sometime in August.
