The Duke Blue Devils kicked off their season with a win on Tuesday against the Texas Longhorns with freshman Cameron Boozer making his highly anticipated collegiate debut.
Boozer’s first half did not go according to plan, going scoreless after shooting 0-for-7 from the floor. At halftime, Duke coach Jon Scheyer reportedly told Boozer he was “playing soft”.

The blunt observation seemingly motivated Boozer, and the second half was a different story. The freshman made a strong rally for the Blue Devils and finished the game with 15 points, 13 rebounds and three steals.
“I just tried to wash it off,” Boozer said when asked about his first half struggles.
While he finished shooting just 3-of-12 from the floor, his impact on the game was evident in other ways. The Blue Devils will look to improve to 2-0 on Saturday against the WCU Catamounts.
