Star catcher Cal Raleigh set to return for Mariners on Tuesday

After just over one month on the injured list, star catcher Cal Raleigh is set to return to the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday, he told the Seattle Times.

Raleigh hit the IL for the first time in his career on May 14 with a right oblique strain, the same injury that hampered him in the weeks prior.

In 41 games earlier this season, he struggled mightily at the plate and slashed .161/.243/.317 with seven home runs. Luckily for Seattle, Raleigh has been impressive in his recent rehab starts.

He went 7-for-17 at the plate and rattled off five home runs in five rehab assignments.

Raleigh’s return comes at a good time for the Mariners as they are still dealing with various injuries to other players.  Still, they had a 16-13 record in Raleigh’s absence and moved up to first place in the American League West.

They’ll now begin their series against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday with a familiar face back in town.
