We’re just a few years removed from the Detroit Pistons possessing the worst record in the NBA. But now, star guard Cade Cunningham is etching his name in the franchise’s history books.

In 15 career playoff games so far, he’s averaging 28.3 points per game, the highest career playoff scoring average in Pistons history.

He’s also in the top five Pistons all-time in average playoff steals, blocks and assists per game.

So far this postseason, he leads all player with 30.6 points per game to go along with 5.1 rebounds and 7.4 assists. He hasn’t exactly been the most efficient, but that matters less when his play still results in winning basketball.

That was certainly the case in the first round as he led the Pistons to a swarming 3-1 series comeback against the Orlando Magic. One thing that’s stood out about Cunningham this postseason is his defensive impact.

His size and versatility makes him one of the most switchable defenders in the playoffs, and he’s disrupted a number of stars like James Harden, Paolo Banchero and Donovan Mitchell.

Despite carrying much of the offensive load for Detroit, he’s made a huge impact on the other end. He’s now got the Pistons up 2-0 on the Cavaliers as they look to make the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2008.
