Five-time All Star first baseman Pete Alonso has agreed to a five-year, $155 million contract with the Baltimore Orioles, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Alonso’s coming off one of the best seasons of his career, hitting .272/.347/.524 with 126 RBIs and 38 home runs. He also broke the Mets’ all-time home run record, finishing with 264.
The 30-year-old had an off year last season, resulting in teams shying away from him in last year’s free agency.
He struggled to secure a long-term deal and signed a short-term deal with the Mets, but his confidence in himself has now paid off.
It’s a high price tag for Baltimore, but Alonso’s 2025 campaign was a strong resurgence and he immediately bolsters the Orioles roster.
