The Columbus Crew announced via X at 5:38 p.m. today that new manager Henrik Rydström has been relieved of his duties with the club.

Rydström only lasted 14 matches in Columbus, during his tenure, he posted a record of 3W/4D/7L.

This move by the club is coming off a four-game winless streak in which the club has been outscored 10 to 5. And a night after a 1-1 draw against the Philadelphia Union who currently sit at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

Columbus currently sits at 13th in the Eastern Conference with 13 points. And their playoff hopes are already on life support just four months into the season.

A new manager has yet to be announced by the club, but many fans have pointed to former manager Wilfried Nancy who led Columbus to their first MLS Cup since 2020, and their first Leagues Cup in club history to make his return.

Nancy left the club following the conclusion of 2025 season, where he joined Scottish Premier League side Celtic.

Nancy’s tenure with Celtic was short lived, being removed from his duties after just 33 days with the club.

On their upcoming schedule, the Crew have just two more matches before the international break.

New York City FC on Wednesday at ScottsMiracle Gro-Field in Columbus, Ohio for the quarterfinal round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, and their final MLS match before the World Cup, on Sunday against Atlanta United, also at ScottsMiracle Gro-Field.

That is all the information the club has shared to this point.
