Florida Gators quarterback DJ Lagway announced on Monday that he is entering the NCAA transfer portal.
“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such an incredible program here at the University of Florida,” Lagway said social media. “…After much prayer, reflection, and thoughtful consideration, I have decided to enter the transfer portal.”
The sophomore quarterback signed with the Gators in 2024 as a top-10 recruit in his class. Even after a shaky 2024 season, he was viewed as a preseason Heisman candidate for 2025. Lagway ultimately struggled to meet those expectation.
Injuries and inconsistency held him back as he completed 63% of his passes in 2025 while throwing for 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
Despite the question marks over the last two seasons, Lagway will hit the transfer portal as a highly sought-after prospect. With two years of eligibility remaining, multiple schools including LSU and Miami are expected to pursue him.
