BREAKING: Bills promote OC Joe Brady to head coach

The Buffalo Bills have agreed to promote offensive coordinator Joe Brady to head coach, per NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Brady is expected to sign a five-year deal and is set to replace Sean McDermott, who was fired after the Bills were eliminated by the Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional round.

He has been with the team since 2022, when he joined McDermott’s staff as a quarterbacks coach. He was eventually promoted to offensive coordinator in 2023 and will now make the jump to head coach.

Brady also spent time as the offensive coach for the Carolina Panthers previously, and was the wide receivers coach for the 2019 LSU National Championship team.

Bills QB Josh Allen reportedly has a close relationship with Brady and had a hand in the head coaching search, which could make Brady’s first year as an NFL head coach a little easier.
