Kansas Jayhawks head coach Bill Self announced on Wednesday that he will remain on the sideline and coach the team in the 2026-27 season.

“With renewed clarity and the ongoing support from our administration, I remain focused and committed to Kansas Basketball competing for a National Championship,” Self said in the announcement. “I look forward to seeing and hearing the best fans in college basketball next season at Allen Fieldhouse.”
Self is one of the country’s most prolific head coaches. He’s been with the Jayhawks since 2003 and has led them to two national championships and four Final Four appearances.
The highly anticipated decision comes after Self spent a significant amount of time mulling his future. He’s battled heart issues in recent years and has had several procedures done on his heart.
The Jayhawks can now breathe a sight of relief and look towards the NCAA transfer portal, which opens on April 7.
