The NBA swarms Anthony Edwards after he had some choice words for past players:
“They say it was tougher back then than it is now, but I don’t think anybody had skill back then.”

Edwards also gives underhanded compliments to Jordan and Kobe and mentions that he hasn’t seen much from back then.
Magic Johnson was not impressed:
“I never respond to a guy who’s never won a championship… He didn’t win a college championship, I don’t even know if he won a high school championship.”
Edwards did win a state championship in high school but the rest was true, even though his NCAA tournament got canceled by COVID. Still, this is an understandable response from one of the greatest players of all time, who has no skill according to Edwards.
Kevin Garnett takes it further:
“I don’t think anybody in this generation could have played like 20 years ago. If I’m being 100, and this is to Ant, this is to everybody in our league — Tatum, all y’all. Twenty years ago you couldn’t get to a triple step back.”
Garnett goes on to talk about how much the physicality of basketball has been diminished due to rule changes and maintains that no one these days could have played back then.
Richard Jefferson responded to Garnett:
“A ton of players in this generation could have played (back then) easily. ANT was wrong and uninformed with what he said but let’s not pretend. Cmon.”
Comparing eras is difficult but you have to give credit where credit is due. Was Anthony Edwards out of line? Did Garnett take it too far? Who do you side with?
