According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the Minnesota Timberwolves will remain without Anthony Edwards for at least the first two games of their second-round series against the San Antonio Spurs.
Edwards sustained the knee injury in Game 4 of the first round against the Denver Nuggets. As he jumped to block a shot on a fastbreak, he came down off-balance and hyperextended his left knee.
Luckily, he was only diagnosed with a hyperextended knee and a bone bruise, avoiding any ligament damage. Over the weekend, Edwards reportedly completed two light workout on the court and will still travel to San Antonio with the team.
There is optimism that he could return as early as Game 3 or Game 4.
Without him, the Timberwolves have a huge task ahead of them. They’ll have to find a way to stop the brilliance of Victor Wembanyama while also figuring out how to score on him.
They enter the series as heavy underdogs, but this postseason has shown us that any team can win at any time. Minnesota will look to do so without Edwards on the court to start the second round.
