Los Angeles Angels snatch victory from the jaws of defeat

On Monday night the Los Angeles Angels offense had been kept in check all game by A’s starting pitch J.T Ginn, who up until the ninth inning, had not allowed a single hit, recorded 10 strikeouts and had only issued one walk.

The Angels had just been battered in a 3-game series against their bitter rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers just the weekend prior; in those 3 games the Dodgers outscored the Angels 31-3.

In a season where the possibility of losing 100 games for the first time in franchise history is a real threat, Monday night felt about on brand.

But baseball can change in the blink of an eye. Leading off in the bottom of the ninth, Adam Frazier would acquire the first hit of the night for the Angels on a single into centerfield. Jose Siri would then come in to pinch run for Frazier.

Zach Neto, the Angels shortstop would then step up into the box. After watching two pitches miss the zone and ahead in a 2-0 count, Neto found a pitch to hit and did not miss.

In a season where the Angels and their fans are looking for anything to cheer about, Monday night’s walk off was well worth the wait.
