The Atlanta Braves came up empty in virtually every way on Monday as they were demolished by the Miami Marlins 12-0.

The matchup was largely quiet for a few innings until Joe Mack sent in a runner for the Marlins with a single to take a 1-0 lead.
On the other side, the Braves struggled mightily at the plate. Scoring runs is hard when you can’t get on base in the first place, that was evident with Atlanta Monday.
As they continued to falter, the Marlins put the pedal to the metal in the fourth inning. Mack got back to work with a another hit to send in two more runs before Xavier Edwards added another run with an additional RBI.
Liam Hicks, the very next batter, kept it going with a two-run RBI double. By the time the fifth inning began, Miami led 6-0.
The Braves failed to score again before switching from JR Ritchie at the mound to Aaron Bummer.
This did not have the intended effect as the Marlins got even hotter in the bottom of the fifth inning. They scored on an RBI walk just before Javier Sanoja rattled off a 375′ grand slam to go push the lead to 11-0.
Edwards kept that momentum going with a 397′ solo home run to go up by 12.
They wouldn’t score again, but they didn’t need to as they held the Braves scoreless for the entire game while holding them to just 4-for-30 at the plate.
It’s not often that the team with the best record in baseball gets shut out, but it’s even more rare for the final score to be 12-0.
