Brandon Aiyuk intensifies public push to join Commanders

Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has consistently made headlines over the last few weeks, largely due to his antics on social media regarding his status on the San Francisco 49ers.

On multiple occasions recently, he’s shared videos and images hinting at his desire to leave the 49ers and join the Washington Commanders.

In the most recent video, his message was less than cryptic.

Aiyuk also claimed multiple times that he has parted ways with his agent, Ryan Williams, although he still hasn’t officially fired him.

In a separate video, he demanded that the 49ers release him so he can sign with the Commanders.

The 28-year-old last took the NFL field during the 2024 season, going down in Week 7 with a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee.

In December, the 49ers placed him on the reserve list after he failed to report to the team facility for rehab on his injured knee.

As of publication, Aiyuk has not filed a petition for reinstatement. If he does so successfully, it could push the 49ers further towards releasing him.

The team likely won’t be interested in keeping him around, but Aiyuk needs to spend more time filing the appropriate paperwork in order to leave the 49ers.
