Georgia Southern Eagles running back Taeo Todd scored a 5-yard rushing touchdown and place kicker Tripp Bryant made four field goals as the Eagles defeated Appalachian State Mountaineers 19–3 on Saturday night in Statesboro.
Bryant opened the scoring with a 25-yard field goal early in the second quarter. Todd’s touchdown came late in the first half, capping a 12-play, 81-yard drive. Bryant added three more field goals in the second half — from 35, 34 and 48 yards. Chance Gamble intercepted a pass in the end zone with 3:02 remaining to secure the win.

Georgia Southern (4–4, 3–1 Sun Belt) moved into first place in the East Division. Max Johnson completed 36 of 47 passes for 318 yards. Wide receiver Alex Taylor had 10 receptions for 93 yards.
Appalachian State (5–3, 2–2 Sun Belt) gained 222 total yards and six rushing yards. The Mountaineers converted 2 of 9 third-down attempts. James London made a 33-yard field goal as time expired in the first half to cut Georgia Southern’s lead to 10–3. He missed a 35-yard attempt earlier in the second quarter.
App State center Jayden Thomas left the game after taking a hard hit to the head from Georgia Southern defensive lineman Eli Anders just before halftime. Thomas did not return. Left tackle Devon Manuel missed the game with a season-ending injury sustained in a win over James Madison on October 22.
Appalachian State hosts Georgia State next Saturday. Georgia Southern hosts Marshall next Saturday.
