Thanks to a hot start, the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the New York Mets 6-2 on Sunday to win the weekend series.

New York came up empty in the first before Philadelphia got on the board early with two RBI singles. In the second inning, the Mets failed to respond and Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber made his presence known moments later.

He rattled off a 418′ three-run home run to make it a 5-0 game in the bottom of the second. With 29 home runs so far, Schwarber now has more homers through 80 games of a season than any player in Phillies history.

In the top of the third, New York finally got on the board thanks to a solo home run from Carson Benge. Unfortunately for the Mets, none of the other batters were able to keep the momentum going.

After a scoreless fourth, Bryce Harper kept his hot streak alive with a solo home run of his own to go up 6-1.

The Mets scored another run on a grounded force-out to first in the sixth inning, but an overall disappointing night at the plate kept them from scoring any further.

Philadelphia cooled off significantly during the later innings, but the Mets failed to capitalize and the Phillies came away with the 6-2 victory.
