LeBron James

NBA contenders are reportedly already calling LeBron James

The NBA offseason has begun for most teams and the biggest free agent on the market is already getting calls from contenders across the league.

According to NBA insider Shams Charania, virtually every contender has called Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and his camps since the season ended.

“I do know a lot of teams are calling him and his camp,” Charania said on Monday’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show. “I spoke to Rich Paul the other day at the Chicago draft combine last week, and he told me, like, every contender in the NBA has essentially, since the season ended, placed a call.”

There has reportedly been a growing frustration between James and the Lakers, so his return to L.A. next season is far from a guarantee.

The current roster construction likely isn’t one that the Lakers will move forward with next season, so some type of change is likely coming.

In fact, James has yet to decide if he will even return for a 24th season, but his retirement wouldn’t be due to an regression in his abilities. He’s remained one of the very best players in the league, even after reaching 40 years old and beyond.

With the Lakers reportedly building around star guard Luka Doncic, James could very well be in a different uniform if he decides to return next season.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are an obvious destination if he desires another homecoming, but virtually every team will be making their case to James for why they should be his top choice.
