The Chicago Cubs coasted to an 8-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday, extending their home winning streak to 15 and getting one step closer to history.

This streak is now the Cubs’ longest at Wrigley Field since their 18-game winning streak in 1935. Team historian Ed Hartig says the franchise record is a 21-game stretch back in 1880.

So far this season, the Cubs sit at 26-12 and have looked like one of the best teams in the MLB.

Left-hander Shota Imanaga continued his hot streak on Thursday with 10 strikeouts and extended his streak of scoreless innings to 12 before allowing a solo home run to Sal Stewart in the sixth.

Thursday’s win was also Chicago’s ninth straight victory, pushing them to 19-3 in their last 22 outings. Both offensively and defensively, the Cubs have been at the top of their game as of late.

While they’ll be without left-hander Matthew Boyd for roughly six weeks due to a knee injury, the Cubs still enter as the favorites in Friday’s matchup against the Texas Rangers.
