Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has sustained a bone bruise and a hyperextension in his left knee and will be sidelined for several weeks, per NBA insider Shams Charania.
Edwards’ knee hyperextended during the second quarter of Saturday’s Game 4 against the Denver Nuggets. He attempted to block a layup before body-to-body contact caused Edwards to land hard on his left knee and immediately go down.
Luckily, testing and imaging ruled out any actual ligament damage, but he will still miss the rest of the first round and at least some of the second if the Timberwolves advance.
Despite losing both Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo to first-half injuries, Ayo Dosunmu helped Minnesota dominate the second half and take a 3-1 series lead.
The Timberwolves’ frontcourt will need to be at their best in Game 5 to combat the absence of their backcourt.
