The New York Yankees picked up a 5-0 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday thanks to some impressive pitching by Max Fried.

After the Mariners put out two Yankees batters to open the game, Cody Bellinger got on base with a single before Ben Rice hit a ground double to the right to send Bellinger home and take a 1-0 lead.

On the very next pitch, Giancarlo Stanton hit a fly-ball single just inside the right foul line to send Rice home and extend the lead to 2-0.

On the other side of the ball, Fried had an elite performance on the mound for the Yankees. He shut out the Mariners with six strikeout in seven innings while allowing just three hits.

New York’s hitting cooled off in that period as well, but picked right back up in the top of the sixth inning.

They scored on a walk before Stanton hit a left-field double to give the increase the lead to four. Jazz Chisholm Jr. then hit a line-drive single to send in another runner.

The Yankees went on to play nearly perfect defense for the rest of the night to secure the win.

Cal Raleigh‘s cold streak at the plate continued on Tuesday as he went 0-for-4 on the night. He has now gone 3-for-21 on the young season.

The Yankees improved to 4-1 with the win and the Mariners fell to 3-3, but they’ll get a chance at revenge when the two teams face off again on Wednesday.
