The Kings traded Corey Perry to the Lightning for a second-round pick in 2028. It’s Perry’s second stint with the Lightning.
Perry previously played for the Lightning from 2021-23, including a Stanley Cup Finals appearance in 2022. He has 11 goals and 17 assists in 50 games this season.
Perry is one of the oldest active players in the NHL. The 40-year old will be joining a Lightning team that is currently at the top of the Atlantic Division, and is second in the Eastern Conference.
Perry signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Kings, meaning he will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. He previously told the Kings he wanted to sign an extension, but changed his mind on deadline day.
Perry is looking to add one more Stanley Cup to his stellar career. Bad luck has taken over for Perry, as he has lost five of the last six Stanley Cup Finals, playing for four different teams.
