After years of being involved in trade rumors, the Hawks finally made the concrete decision on Monday to begin working towards a move.
Since being drafted in 2018, Young has been the face of the franchise, but his elite individual play hasn’t translated into real playoff success aside from an Eastern Conference Finals appearance in 2021.
As the Hawks’ all-time leader in three-pointers, Young hits the trade block with a mixed market.
On one hand, Young is an elite playmaker and offensive facilitator. On the other, he’s a liability on the defensive end and is constantly dealing with injuries.
NBA insider Marc Stein reports that the Washington Wizards are a “legitimate” destination option for Young, with a deal being discussed involving C.J. McCollum.
Ultimately, the Hawks are likely to discuss trade options with numerous teams around the league, but it’s nearly impossible to predict where Young will end up.
