NBA Finals Game 7: Most watched NBA Finals game since 2019

The NBA Finals started off sluggish, when it comes to viewership. Despite an excellent product on the floor, like Tyrese Haliburton hitting the game-winner in Game 1, people just weren’t watching as they should have been.

The series continued to be entertaining and this ultimately led to more fans tuning in. A new report has come out stating that Game 7 between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers was the most-watched NBA Finals game since 2019.

This year’s Game 7 averaged 16.53 million viewers and peaked at 19.28 million during the second half. This is the first time since Game 6 of the 2019 Finals that a game had over 16 million viewers (18.34 million).

The entire seven-game series has also accounted for the seven most-watched primetime television programs over the past two months. This is great news for the NBA, as it struggled to gain viewership throughout the regular season.

Hopefully, more small-market teams can reach the NBA Finals and play for a championship. This is good for the league and it may eventually bring more fans in, ones that are sick of all the top teams winning every season.
