The San Antonio Spurs have added another young coach to help Mitch Johnson.
Johnson, 38, served as the Spurs’ interim head coach this season. He was an assistant coach under Greg Popovich since 2019, but the five-time NBA Champion handed the keys to Johnson. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Sunday that Sean Sweeney, an assistant coach of the Dallas Mavericks, has joined the Spurs on a deal to be an associate head coach under Johnson.

Sweeney has been an assistant coach for the Mavs since 2021.
He was with the Detroit Pistons from 2018 to 2021 as an assistant before going to Dallas. Sweeney served under Jason Kidd with the Mavericks, Brooklyn Nets (2013), and Milwaukee Bucks (2014-18). San Antonio now has two young minds working together to develop Victor Wembanyama, De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, and the Spurs to being championship contenders.
