This trade was certainly unexpected but it appears to be a good move, especially for the young Magic. Orlando finished the 2024-25 season with a 41-41 record.
The Magic made the postseason as the seventh seed and lost to the Boston Celtics in five games in the first round. It was their youth and lack of experience that really hurt them in the series against Boston.
By adding Bane, they get a player who averaged 19.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game. Also, they get a player who has four years of experience in the postseason, and battled against some tough competition out in the Western Conference.
Bane also adds toughness to the Magic, something that can help them during the long haul of the NBA season.
