The Detroit Pistons played against the New York Knicks in Game 2 of the first round on Monday night in a gritty battle of defensive intensity. Despite a strong Knicks rally, the Pistons secured the victory 100-94.
Cade Cunningham and Dennis Schroder led Detroit to their first postseason win since Game 4 of the 2008 Eastern Conference Finals.

After a close first quarter, the Pistons were in the lead for the majority of the game and opened up a 15-point lead in the third quarter thanks to an 11-0 scoring run.
The Knicks didn’t back down and stormed back into the game with a 16-4 run to tie it up at 94 apiece with less than 90 seconds left to play. Luckily for Detroit, Schroder hit a huge three-pointer on the next possession to take the lead and secure the victory.

For the Pistons, Cunningham finished with 33 points, 12 rebounds and two steals while Schroder had 20 points on 6/10 shooting off the bench.
For New York, Jalen Brunson had 37 points and seven assists but Karl-Anthony Towns had just ten points, with all of them coming in the first half.
With the series tied 1-1, both squads will make their way to Detroit for an intense Game 3 on Thursday.
