The NBA MVP race has been a two-man battle for most of the season. It’s been between Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets.

Sports commentator Rachel Nichols recently stated on Open Court that she had spoken to James Harden about who the MVP should be. Harden gave insights on how NBA players feel about the race.

“I talked to James Harden for a little bit this morning before the Clippers left for Denver,” Nichols stated. “And I said, ‘Who’s the best player? And he said, ‘Well, no question Jokic is the best player. But even he said, All the players, we want to see Shai win MVP because of the season he had and the winning.

“I think that really factors in for them more than maybe some people on the outside who are just looking at stats, stats, stats, stats, stats see it,” Nichols continued. “But he goes, ‘Of course, Jokic is the best player.”

Jokic truly is a generational talent. He had arguably one of the greatest seasons anyone has ever had in NBA history.

Still, SGA is the best player on the best team in the league. He’s deserving of the MVP if he wins it, he just might not be the best player in the NBA.
