NBA probes gun gestures made by Ja Morant and Buddy Hield

The Golden State Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies matched up on Tuesday night in a heated, tech-riddled battle similar to what we’ve seen the two squads take part in before. This time, Ja Morant and Buddy Hield were each issued a technical foul after appearing to point finger guns at each other.

During the tough home loss at the hands of Stephen Curry‘s 50-point night, Morant appeared to make a gun gesture pointing towards the Warriors bench while Hield did the same in response.

The gesture itself wasn’t very explicit, but given Morant’s storied history with firearms, the NBA has now launched an investigation regarding both players’ behavior.

“The NBA is looking into Memphis’ Ja Morant using finger gun motions toward the Golden State Warriors bench last night, sources tell me and (Tim MacMahon),” ESPN’s Shams Charania reports.

“The league’s probe will also look into a gesture by Warriors guard Buddy Hield ahead of Morant, sources said. League officials will talk to involved parties as soon as Wednesday.”

Morant received a 25-game suspension last season for flashing a firearm on social media, so there’s no way to tell exactly how harsh his potential punishment may be.
