The New York Yankees are one of the only MLB teams that didn’t unveil new “City Connect” jerseys for this season. In fact, they’ve effectively worn just two jerseys throughout their storied history.
According to The Athletic, several Yankees players are now pushing for the team to wear an alternate uniform for the first time ever.

The unnamed players are reportedly asking to wear their navy batting practice jerseys on occasion. Historically, the Yankees have exclusively worn their iconic white pinstripe jerseys at home and the classic gray jerseys on the road.
Ultimately, the decision will be in the hand of team owner Hal Steinbrenner, who has shown willingness to make changes in recent years.
In 2025, he abolished the team’s longtime ban on facial hair. At the moment, the Yankees are the only MLB team to never have an alternate regular season uniform.
