Wild head coach John Hynes announces major goalie change

The Minnesota Wild head coach, John Hynes, announced that Filip Gustavsson will start in their Game 2 matchup against the Colorado Avalanche. Goaltender Jesper Wallstedt allowed eight goals in Game 1.

Gustavsson last played on April 13 in a 6-3 loss against the St. Louis Blues. He stopped 16 of 21 shots faced.

Gustavsson appeared in 50 games this season, posting a .904 save percentage and four shutouts, which was tied for the third most in the league this season. However, Gustavsson has posted under .850 save percentage in five of his last six games. As for the playoffs, he has a 4-6 record with a .917 save percentage and 2.53 GAA.

For Wallstedt, it was his worst game of the season in Game 1. He saved 34 of 42 shots faced, for an .810 save percentage. He was also the starter for the all seven of the Wild’s playoff games this postseason.
