At 1:03 p.m. The Chicago White Sox announced via X that their No .2 prospect OF Braden Montgomery has been called up.

Montgomery was promoted to Charlotte on May 5 after posting a .313/.429/.606 slash line through 99 at-bats with the Double-A Birmingham Barons.

He would continue to hit well after the promotion, slashing .315/.417/.495 through his 111 at-bats in Charlotte.

His promotion to the majors comes as OF Austin Hays was moved to the 60-day IL, Hays was sidelined with a left calf strain but was sent back to Chicago on June 1 to evaluate a lower-back soreness.

The White Sox currently sit in second place in the AL central and currently hold the second Wild Card position with a record of 34-31.

The team has not announced if Montgomery will start for the team’s first of three games against the Atlanta Braves tonight at 7:40 p.m.
