Ducks’ forward Troy Terry scored in overtime to complete the comeback over the Sabres. It’s Terry’s first OT winner of the season.
It was a tightly contested game between the leaders of the Pacific and Atlantic Divisions. The game was tied 2-2, with both of the Ducks’ goals coming on the power play. The Ducks would then add two more in the second, with Beckett Sennecke and Terry both scoring.
The third period was pure chaos. The Sabres scored three straight goals in just under seven minutes to take a 5-4 lead. However, with 1:44 left, Mikael Granlund scored on the power play to tie it 5-5.
That’s when, in overtime, Terry scored his second goal of the game in walk-off fashion. It was his 16th goal of the season.
The win helped the Ducks stay in first in the Pacific, as no team has had a clear grasp on it in recent weeks. As for the Sabres, they still sit at first with a comfortable lead over the Lightning in the Atlantic.
