The St. John’s Red Storm outlasted the Kansas Jayhawks 67-65 on Sunday thanks in part to a stunning layup at the buzzer by Dylan Darling.

After Rick Pitino and the Redhawks opened up a 14-point lead with eight minutes to play, Bill Self and the Jayhawks stormed back into the game.

An 8-0 scoring run made it a close game before two clutch free throws from Kansas star Darryn Peterson tied the game at 65.

With just under three seconds to work with, Darling caught the inbound pass near halfcourt and drove to the rim for a difficult last-second layup.

The impressive win pushed the Red Storm to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1999 while likely ending the collegiate career of Darryn Peterson.
