The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Buffalo Sabres in Game 7 in OT 3-2, with Alex Newhook scoring the game-winning goal.

The Canadiens got out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period, thanks to Phillip Danault and Zachary Bolduc. However, the Sabres clawed their way back and tied the game at 2-2 in the third. In overtime, Newhook was able to get one by goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and clinch the win. It was Newhook’s second Game 7 winner of this postseason.

Montreal now plays the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Canadiens won all three matchups in the regular season. Game 1 will be on Thursday, May 21.
