Pittsburgh Pirates second baseman Brandon Lowe hit the first home run of the 2026 season against the New York Mets to take a 2-0 lead. It is Lowe’s first homer with the Pirates.

Lowe hit a home run off Mets starter Freddy Peralta. Peralta was traded to the Mets from the Brewers back on January 21.

The home run is a positive start to the season for the Pirates. The team finished last in the MLB in 2025 with 117 home runs, 31 fewer than the 29th-ranked Cardinals. The team is hoping to make a turnaround this season, especially on the offensive side.
