Long-time Pittsburgh Penguin winger Evgeni Malkin has agreed to a one-year contract extension with the team. The deal is reportedly worth $5.5 million.

Malkin has spent his entire 20-year career with the Penguins and was drafted 2nd overall in the 2004 NHL draft. He has won three Stanley Cups, is a three-time All-Star, and a two-time Art Ross Trophy winner. He has also won the Conn Smythe Trophy, Hart Memorial Trophy, and Ted Lindsay Award.
Both the Penguins and Malkin have had their struggles in recent years. The Penguins have missed the playoffs three of the last four years and have not made it past the first round since the 2017-18 season. Malkin has also shown a decline, with only one 70-plus point season since 2020.
Malkin is now signed through the 2026-27 campaign. He will be 40 years old next season.
