UConn-Michigan brings in 18.3 million average TV viewers

Monday’s national championship matchup between the Michigan Wolverines and the UConn Huskies was one to remember, and the college basketball world made sure to tune in.

As Michigan secured a 69-63 win, an average of 18.3 million people watched on TBS, TNT and TruTV.

That makes it the most-watched NCAA men’s basketball game since Virginia’s national championship victory over Texas Tech in 2019. At its peak, Monday’s game had 20.4 million viewers.

Despite a lack of traditional Cinderella teams this year, March Madness still saw a 7% uptick in viewers compared to last year’s tournament.

Several high-level matchups highlighted a highly entertaining tournament. The Huskies made their way to the Final Four with a ridiculous game-winning three to take down the Duke Blue Devils, while the Wolverines dominated the Arizona Wildcats in an impressive display of dominance.

Despite shooting struggles from both sides in the national title game, top-tier defense and hustle still made it a phenomenal game to watch.
