The U.S. got the scoring started in the same way they did their match against Paraguay.
In the 11th minute saw Austrialian Cameron Burgess knock the pass right into his own net, giving the U.S. a 1-0 lead.
In the 43rd, Alex Freeman would capitalize on a U.S. free kick wide of the box, knocking in a loose ball for the second of the match for the U.S.
But a quick raising of the offside flag seemingly nullified the goal.
A VAR check would conclude, however, that Freeman was in an onside position.
The U.S. would take their 2-0 advantage into halftime.
While neither side could find a goal in the second half, emotions would flare several times between the two sides.
The U.S. would need just two goals to secure their second straight win of the group stage.
The U.S. and Australia will both play at 10 p.m. on Thursday for their final group stage matches.
The U.S. will look for the Group-D sweep against Turkey.
And the Australians will look to secure that second place spot and punch their ticket to the knockout stage.
