The Oklahoma City Thunder put on a dominant performance in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals on Thursday, beating the Minnesota Timberwolves 115-103. They have now taken a commanding 2-0 lead in the series.

Both squads were playing tough defense to start and OKC was having major trouble trying to knock down three-point shots. The Thunder went just 1-of-8 from downtown in the opening quarter, but still held a four-point lead going into the second.

With both squads being led by their respective captains, the second quarter was just as competitive. The Timberwolves offense still showed signs of life in the first half, but the second half was a different story.

After having a hard time gaining momentum in the first half, OKC’s offense turned up the heat in the third quarter. The Thunder’s excellent team defense fueled a tremendous scoring run as they opened up a 24-point lead.

The Timberwolves were outscored by 14 points in the third quarter, but Anthony Edwards led a valiant comeback effort in the fourth. Minnesota cut the deficit down to ten late in the game, but couldn’t contain OKC’s potent offense down the stretch.

Edwards played a strong game for the Timberwolves with 32 points, nine rebounds and six assists alongside a 22-point night from Jaden McDaniels.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the 2025 NBA MVP and played like it in Game 2, finishing with 38 points and eight assists on 57% shooting from the field. Jalen Williams also had a great night with 26 points and ten rebounds.

As the series heads back to Minneapolis for Games 3 and 4, the Timberwolves must be at their best moving forward if they want to avoid elimination.
