The MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, continues to play at a level few have seen before. After his 31-point performance in Game 5, SGA became the best-scoring point guard in NBA playoff history.

So far in 21 postseason games, Gilgeous-Alexander has averaged 30.4 points per game, giving himself 638 total points. This has made him the best-scoring point guard in NBA playoff history.

Now, I know most people, especially the haters, will say Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is not a “true point” guard, as he is a flat-out scorer, and not a pass-first type of player. That may be true, but he is still listed as the Oklahoma City Thunder’s starting point guard.

The game has changed, and positions are different. Fans have to accept that and they should appreciate what SGA is doing.

The Thunder will have to win one more game to secure the championship, and SGA will certainly add to that point total. This will make his postseason run even more impressive.

If OKC can hold on and bring the championship home, there will be talks about where SGA’s season ranks among the best of all time. He has certainly played well enough to earn those discussions.
