The Seattle Seahawks defeated the San Francisco 49ers 13-3 on Saturday, officially clinching the No. 1 spot in the NFC and improving to 14-3.
The matchup began as a defensive showcase from both squads. After over ten scoreless minutes, Seahawks runningback Zach Charbonnet broke out for a 27-yard touchdown run to go up 7-0.

That’s when the defensive prowess from both teams regained control. After nearly another entire quarter, Seahawks kicker Jason Myers connected on a 45-yard field goal to extend the lead to 10-0.
San Francisco responded with several quick rushes to set up Eddy Pineiro for a 48-yard FG, but the Seahawks entered halftime with a 10-3 lead.
The third quarter saw both sides go scoreless as slow drives turned into turnovers.
After making another FG to open the fourth quarter, Seattle played elite defense for the rest of the matchup to secure the 13-3 victory.
Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold finished with 198 passing yards with zero touchdowns and zero interceptions while completing 20 of his 26 pass attempts.
49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, who was rattled by a hard hit near the end of the game, had 127 passing yards. He finished with zero touchdowns and one interception while completing 19 of his 27 pass attempts.
The Seahawks officially clinched the NFC’s top seed in the postseason with Saturday’s hard-fought win.
