Seahawks outlast Rams and advance to Super Bowl

The Seattle Seahawks narrowly held on to their lead against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, securing a 31-27 victory and a spot in the Super Bowl.

The Seahawks broke the seal quickly with a touchdown in the first five minutes before forcing the Rams offense to settle for a field goal on the following drive.

This gave Seattle just enough time to score their own field goal and extend the lead to seven at the end of the first quarter.

The Rams controlled the ball for most of the second quarter, cashing in a field goal before RB Kyren Williams caught a 9-yard touchdown pass from QB Matthew Stafford.

The Seahawks responded with a touchdown of their own, a 14-yard catch by Jaxon Smith-Njigba to retake the lead just before halftime.

Both offenses came alive in the third quarter, scoring two touchdowns each as the third frame progressed.

The opposite was true in the fourth quarter, as both defenses held the other offense scoreless for the majority of the final 15 minutes.

Seattle’s defense made a final defensive stand near the end of the game before holding onto the ball for the final minutes of the matchup and securing the four-point victory.

They are now set to face the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.
