Report: LeBron and Lakers ready to part ways

The Los Angeles Lakers seemingly hit the jackpot when LeBron James signed with the franchise back in 2018. Even though he led the Lakers to a title in 2020, LeBron’s time with the Lakers has been somewhat of a disappointment.

In LeBron’s seven seasons with the Lakers, the team failed to reach the postseason two times. This falls short of expectations for both LeBron and the franchise.

Also, outside of winning the 2020 championship, the team has been bounced out of the first round three times. Before LeBron joined the Lakers, he had never lost a first-round playoff series.

When LeBron picked up his $52.6 million player option to return to the Lakers, most believed all was well. Then, reports surfaced that LeBron wasn’t happy with the roster and may want to leave.

Now, according to NBA insider John Gambadoro, LeBron isn’t the only one who wants to move on, as the Lakers do, as well.

“I was told this after the playoffs by someone close to LeBron said, ‘LeBron wants out of LA and they want him gone.’ Watch Game 1, how disinterested LeBron was. Now, most people on here know that my sources are not the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.”

Will LeBron and the Lakers move on from each other? It is seemingly more likely each day.
